Madeira is a beautiful Atlantic island, located to the west of Africa. Take the cable car from the middle of Madeira's capital city of Funchal and you'll find yourself in absolute paradise at the Monte Palace Tropical Gardens. Once you've finished, you could take the cable car down, taxi or walk back to the city centre but there's a more fun way to descend! Check out the Madeira tobaggan rides where men wearing striped jackets and boaters will steer the wicker basket you're sitting in down a steep hill without a brake in sight! It won't take you right back down to the seafront but you can then walk, bus or taxi the rest of the way.
